Salary Range: $71894 to $84,581 (Grade 11 on the Town's Salary Grid)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (35 hrs/wk)
 
Reporting to the Manager of Finance & Support Services, the Human Resources Officer is an important role of the Client Services department and is primarily responsible for the human resources administration for the Municipality including the principal areas of recruitment, labour relations, training and development, performance monitoring, policy development and health and safety. The Human Resources Officer provides strategic advice, problem resolution and coordination of a range of day-to-day HR issues that requires judgement and tactical decision-making within prescribed policy parameters. The position provides support for employee relations, job evaluation, salary administration, disability management, benefit and pension administration, and provides interpretation of human resources policies, legislation, collective agreements and occupational health and safety initiatives.
 
The successful candidate will have three (3) to four (4) years previous human resources experience, post-secondary with an emphasis in human resources management and/or related field, CHRP/CHRL/CHRE designated, demonstrated understanding of human resources management, knowledge of applicable law, and strong communication skills both verbally and written for preparing employment documentation, policy, reports and presentations. The position requires experience with providing internal and external client service, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and sound analytical and research skills to investigate and solve problems in support of management and staff information needs.
