Reporting to the Deputy Director / Manager of Engineering the position is responsible for managing the Engineering Services computer-aided civil design and surveying services. The position is responsible for the preparation and review of the design, drawings and tender quantities for proposed City infrastructure projects including watermains, storm and sanitary sewers and road construction projects. Ensures all City engineering drawings and records are maintained.  The position coordinates in-house design and surveying teams to ensure efficient and effective use of resources. Recommends data and technology upgrades to ensure the City’s computer-aided civil design and surveying technologies are current with industry standards.
Essential (minimum) Qualifications:
  • Three (3) year community college program in Civil Engineering Technology or related field. 
  • Certified or eligible for certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) or Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
Asset (preferred) Qualifications:
Essential (minimum) Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a municipal engineering consulting and/or municipal engineering organization.
Asset (preferred) Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerized municipal engineering design principles.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with computer civil design and surveying software packages including Autodesk’s Infrastructure Design Suite GPS systems and robotic total station windows based data collection in GPS RTK format.
  • Proficiency in the current version of Autodesk IDS Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency in ArcMap
  • Experience with Windows-based networks and Microsoft office products
  • Demonstrated leadership and performance management abilities
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and changing demands and priorities
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License
