Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst - Year End Reporting, the Financial Analyst will provide timely completion of financial analysis and reporting including inventory audits and cash handling analysis and recommendations. Other duties will include but are not limited to the management of the City’s short-term and long-term investment programs including the development and implementation of investment policies and practices; reviewing, establishing and implementing financial accounting systems and systems of internal control; performing general ledger account reconciliations as required using the JD Edwards Financial Information System and preparing and processing journal entries to the general ledger system. The Financial Analyst will also assist in the preparation of the City’s annual financial statements and year-end working papers; complete statistical and claim forms requested by Federal and Provincial Government Agencies, assist in the preparation of the year-end statements for the GFOA recognition awards, assist with the reporting of Tangible Capital Assets and provide backup to the Financial Analyst - Year End Reporting as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successful completion of a three (3) year post-secondary degree or diploma with an emphasis in accounting, business and/or finance or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year work experience in a related field.
  • Active enrollment in a recognized professional accounting designation program (CPA) at an intermediate level is required.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software (Word and Excel) is essential.
  • Knowledge of CaseWare software would be an asset.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course would be an asset.
  • Ability to work with multiple priorities, have strong time management skills and have proven communication skills.
  • Possess a valid Class G license in good standing with access to a personal vehicle

SALARY RANGE: $35.45 to $39.39 per hour (35 hours per week)
