The Opportunities

Under the direction of the Superintendent, Roads and Fleet, this position is responsible to oversee and coordinate the maintenance of all Town assets within the right of way to ensure vehicular and pedestrian safety while ensuring compliance to all legislation. Supervising roads operators this position is responsible to schedule work carried out by work crews and contractors which includes inspection of job sites/work zones as well as investigating and resolving public enquiries.

While overseeing all road maintenance activities including winter maintenance, the successful candidate will be available to work on-call on a rotating basis.
The Supervisor, Roads (Loose Top) will oversee all loose top maintenance activities including grading, graveling, dust control, roadside shouldering, gravel spot repairs, shoulder wash-outs, gravel road base repairs and other loose top maintenance programs.
The Supervisor, Roads (Storm Water) will oversee all storm drainage maintenance activities including catch basin and storm maintenance hole cleaning and rehabilitation, culvert cleaning and relining, install and replacement of culverts, roadside ditching and other storm drainage maintenance programs.
The Ideal Candidates
We are seeking experienced professionals with or eligible to obtain Certified Road Supervisor accreditation or Certified Engineering Technologist or equivalent to fulfill this role and to join our growing team. Our ideal candidate has at least 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to plan and schedule resources, and prioritize work to ensure efficient delivery of division services. Strong customer service skills are a must with a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with the public.
Supervisor, Roads (Loose Top):
This candidate will ideally have 5 – 7 years of related experience in road maintenance and/or road construction.
Supervisor, Roads (Storm Water):
This individual will ideally have 5 – 7 years of related experience in storm water and road maintenance as well as storm water and road construction.
Notwithstanding the above, candidates who do not fulfill all of our requirements may be considered in a Development Status capacity. Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
