Project Engineer Full Time Permanent Position

The Municipality of Central Elgin is a progressive, growing urban and rural municipality located on the shores of Lake Erie in the heart of Southwestern Ontario.  The Municipality is home to 12,800 living in both an urban and rural environments.  Currently, the municipality is seeking progressive, eager, and self-motivated individuals to be part of the Central Elgin team.
 
 
Project Engineer
 
This newly created position reports to the Assistant Director of Physical Services. The Project Engineer facilitates the project management of capital projects primarily in water, wastewater and roads. Our Physical Services Department is responsible for storm drainage, sanitary sewers, roads, municipal potable water, development control; and Parks and Recreation.
 
What your responsibilities will be:
 
  • Preparing designs for road, culvert, drainage, sewer & water projects using Civil 3D Software based on municipal and provincial standards and best practice engineering principals.
  • Certifying drawings and engineering documentation with Professional Engineers Seal.
  • Conducting technical review of drawings and contract documents and prepares engineering responses for capital, maintenance and development projects including water distribution, storm drainage, sanitary sewers, storm water management and grading.
  • Acting as contract administrator for projects being performed by outside contractors and consultants.  Your work will include but not limited to; site inspection, attending and convening site meetings.  Bringing to the attention of the Assistant Director of Physical Services unusual design and construction problems.
 
Ideally, you would have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering from a recognized university program
  • Professional Engineer designation in Ontario
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Experience in surveying, and construction inspection, drafting and design of municipal infrastructure projects including road, storm & sanitary drainage and water distribution.
  • Self-motivated, and team oriented individual that is willing to work with a progressive municipality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and proficiency in computer software. Computer skills required are AutoCad, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office. Experience with GIS software is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a municipal environment will be considered and asset
 
The 2018 salary range for the position is $33.81/hr -$39.55/hr (40-hour work week)
