    This a permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week.
 
 
Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Services this role is responsible for the management of municipal facilities security/life safety requirements. 
 
Preferred Background:
The ideal candidate will possess a diploma in Building Environmental Systems with a focus on security/life safety and a minimum of five (5) years of related facility operations experience. Must have experience with tendering processes and contract administration, and be able to read and interpret drawings. Strong problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multi-task, work in a team-based environment with a focus on continuous improvement and quality customer service are key. The candidate should have previous exposure in the preparation of forecasting budgets and cost estimates and report and/or policy and procedure writing. Working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations such as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Ontario Fire Code is required. Proficiency with computer software applications including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Access Control and CCTV systems is required.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
 
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment. Travel will be required, incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment. Flexibility in working hours will be required.
 
Duties:
  • Co-ordinate security services to Region owned and/or operated properties through the supervision of in-house staff and contract firms, and the maintenance and enhancement of various security systems.
  • Collaborate with and assist other departments on all Security, and Fire/ Life Safety matters, responds to inquiries from the public and prepares reports and records as required.
  • Develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures for security operations.
  • Ensure the full involvement of client divisions/departments in the implementation of work at Regional facilities.
  • Recommend, direct, and supervise consulting engineers and architects in the design, construction, renovation and upgrade of security and life safety systems at Regional facilities.
  • Exercise effective cost and schedule control of Security and Fire/Life Safety Projects and Contract Services.
  • Ensure that the systems are constructed in compliance with the contract documents and Halton’s Health and Safety Policies.
  • Maintain and implement Corporate Security Plans along with respective policies/procedures for the Division.
  • Build and maintain a database of all new and existing site security, fire/life safety systems, incorporating a schedule for regular site inspection visits to ensure services meet Regional policies, standards, and legislation.
  • Provide project management, contract administration, coordination and on-site supervision of Regional contracts from design stage to commissioning and start-up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
