Deputy Treasurer
(permanent, full-time position, 35hours/week)

Reporting to the Treasurer, the Deputy Treasurer manages the administration of the Town’s accounting activities to ensure accounting procedures are delivered in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements of the Public Sector Accounting Board. The Deputy Treasurer assists the Treasurer in his various duties and replaces the Treasurer during his absence.
 
On a daily basis, the Deputy Treasurer assists in the supervision and development of employees of the Finance Department, in the developing of the annual budget, the capital budget and other financial planning documents and in the coordination and improvement of financial systems or procedures. The Deputy Treasurer is also responsible for acting as a resource for all policies, receiving and taking charge of the Town's money, establishing and monitoring all tax collections procedures and participating in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines on the financial management of the Corporation.
 
Requirements
The ideal candidate has a post-secondary education in accounting, commerce, finance, business administration combined with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in municipal financial administration. Experience using Vadim iCity or similar financial software is considered an asset. The candidate must have advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and it is required to be fluently bilingual, French and English (oral and written). As this position is central to the finance department, the ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively, liaise with other departments, prioritize task, manage deadlines, be detail-oriented and demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills.
 
Salary and fringe benefits
From $65,048 to $79,141 annually (Group 12 of the non-unionized employees’ salary scale, currently under revision). The Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury offers a complete benefit package.
