Key Responsibilities
 
Reporting to the City Solicitor, the Manager, Realty Services oversees the City’s land and real property asset portfolio and program, including the establishment of Corporate policies and procedures to guide and execute the acquisition, disposition expropriation and leasing of property.
 
On a day-to-day basis you will lead complex negotiations to dispose of surplus municipal property; draft legal agreements and provisions related to real estate; create, advise and interpret policy, procedures and practices related to property; develop strong business relationships and partnerships with external contacts; review and interpret property appraisals; approve draft plans of surveys relative to real estate; prepare and present reports to Council; acquire property for capital works and recreation projects, parkland and strategic land or building assets; and oversee negotiation of related settlement agreements. In addition, you will prepare and monitor the division’s operation budget, and be responsible for the hiring, discipline, dismissal, performance management and training of staff, in consultation with the Human Resources department.
 
Your qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws, Common Law (Ontario), along with a minimum seven years of experience in real property law, development, and corporate/commercial law, preferably in a municipal environment. Your supervisory experience, along with demonstrated knowledge of various Acts related to the position, demonstrated skills related to analytical, organizational, communication, customer service, time management, and initiative are a must to be successful in this role.
 
 
Annual Salary: $70,836 -$82,868 for a 30 hour work week.
