To position the organization well for continued success, the City has recently realigned its corporate structure, creating an opportunity for a new General Manager, Infrastructure Services.
 
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the General Manager, Infrastructure Services will have the opportunity to lead the quality and efficient delivery of infrastructure services that all Kitchener citizens rely on every day. You will ensure the department provides sound infrastructure and reliable maintenance, operations and security of buildings, roads, trails, parks, watermains, sewers, a natural gas distribution system, vehicles and other assets. You will advance effective planning and operationalization of corporate strategies/policies as they relate to the use of city property, assets and infrastructure, to implement broader City objectives. You will champion this work within the department and corporately by encouraging internal stakeholder involvement, clarifying objectives, establishing expected outcomes, resolving conflicts and ensuring alignment across departmental boundaries. Your portfolio will include providing strategic direction to the City’s senior team of professionals, and ultimately leading a team of 625 employees in: Facilities Management, Fleet, Operations-Environmental Services, Operations-Roads & Traffic, and Utilities (water, sewer and one of only two municipally-owned natural gas utilities in Ontario). A creative problem solver with a collaborative leadership style, you will champion the mission and values of the City to foster a positive and innovative workplace culture.
 
As a member of our corporate leadership team, through a collaborative consensus-based approach, you will play a key role in developing corporate strategy, including providing high-level financial direction, participating in priority-setting, and being a champion for a strong organizational culture. Your strong political acumen and respect for the partnership between administrative staff and Council ensure that you are a responsive direct liaison to City Council.
