Reporting to the Manager, Rewards & Recognition, the Specialist, Pensions & Benefits provides administrative support for the group pension and benefit plans for employees and former employees of the Corporation, including responsibility for processing timely accurate solutions to complex benefit and pension issues; completing analysis and preparing reports; and providing responsive customer service to employees and their families. 
  • Completion of a University Degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience specializing in benefits administration, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Completion of one or more of the Certificates within the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) program, is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of employee benefits administration and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) rules and regulations and administration is an asset.
  • Extensive experience and proficiency using data base systems (i.e. MS Office, Excel, Outlook, Kronos Time and Attendance, HRIS, JD Edwards).
  • Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Canada Pension Plan, Canada Revenue Agency regulations, EI – Service Canada, EHT, WSIB.
Specialized Training:
  • Ability to provide courteous and timely customer service, demonstrating appropriate tact as required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills; demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
Compensation:  $61,167 to $86,639
