Summary of Functions
CVC’s Water and Climate Change Science Team has a strong history and demonstrated leadership role in water resource management in Ontario. While this team is dynamic and fast-paced, its culture is relaxed and respectful, teamwork is evident and valued, diversity is welcomed and encouraged, and healthy living is promoted and supported through compressed work schedules and flexible hours. Everyone in the CVC Water and Climate Change Science Team is enthusiastic about what they do and it shows through the variety and success of the projects and programs they implement in collaboration with local and regional municipalities, and community partners! The Water and Climate Change Science Team are currently seeking an Engineer, Water and Climate Change Sciences for the team. 
The successful candidate will work with the team to meet the objectives of CVC’s Strategic Plan and help develop CVC’s corporate Climate Change Strategy. This position will also provide assistance in the development and implementation of programs and projects that further the Authority’s objectives in the area of climate change and ecosystems services. The successful candidate is flexible, innovative and able to deliver on multiple initiatives in a fast and dynamic team environment.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Education in environmental sciences, physical sciences, environmental planning, or environmental engineering. Master in Climate Change or equivalent considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in climate change mitigation and adaptation, risk assessments, or climate data or relevant sciences
  • Background in environmental economics and ecosystem services sciences an asset
  • Demonstrated project and contract management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the production and review of technical science-based documents
  • Experience in grant application and funding proposal preparation an asset
  • Experience with working with external stakeholders and facilitation an asset
  • Good working knowledge of word-processing, database management and other office computer software
  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License
Summary of Major Tasks
  • Coordinate update of the CVC Climate Change Strategy and include corporate social responsibility guidance, in partnership with strategy team
  • Support the development and implementation of key performance indicators for CVC climate change programs
  • Coordinate CVC input on matters relating to climate change
  • Provide project coordination, including project design, work plan development, and cost accounting, supporting climate change and additional watershed knowledge initiatives, including ecological goods and services
  • Prepare reports and communications materials, such as guidance documents, terms of reference, funding proposals and technical reports
  • Present results and studies at key stages for technical input from internal and external partners and agencies, as well as to communicate newly developed climate change science, technical tools and results
  • Provide logistical support for coordinating meetings and committees, in relation to the above tasks
  • Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in climate change sciences • Other duties and projects as appropriate to the position

Anticipated Start and End Dates:  May 22, 2018 - May 22, 2019 (35 hours/week)
Annual Salary Starting At: $63,775
