The Corporation of The Town of New Tecumseth is seeking a positive, team-oriented individual to fill the position of Supervisor, Municipal Law Enforcement. Reporting to the Director of Administration Services/Clerk, this position directs and coordinates the day to day work activities of the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers, administrative staff and contractors to ensure the effective and efficient resolution of all by-law, parking and property standards related matters within the Town. Responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation and Town policies and protection of public health and safety. Responsible for laying of all charges, court attendance, and liaison with Town solicitors for matters before the court.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Successful completion of a Municipal Law Enforcement training course or diploma in Police Foundations or Law and Security.
  • Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Certifications MLEO-C and Certified Property Standards Officer CPSO.
  • 4-5 years experience in a municipal enforcement position with at least 1 year experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with Parking Ticket software programs would be an asset.
  • Must have an understanding of municipal government with the ability to interpret policies and regulations of the Municipal Act, municipal by-laws, Provincial Offences Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other legislation relevant to the position. Must be considered a competent person under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Experience required in court litigation proceeding and the preparation and giving of evidence including disclosure requests for evidence for court purposes.
  • Requires valid Class G license in good standing.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills required when dealing with complaints in person or on the phone with respect to enforcement issues and Members of Council, internal and external resources such as police, other enforcement departments, SPCA and MOE, etc. in resolving issues.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills when dealing with volatile situations.
  • High level of tact and diplomacy required to deal with Members of Council, senior staff and the public regarding controversial issues such as parking tickets, by-law infractions and property standards issues and trying to achieve compliance.
  • Will be on call or required to work varying hours as required by specific situations.
 
Salary Range: $62,973.82 - $78,605.80
