Budget Analyst
The City of North Bay invites applications for the position of Budget Analyst. Under the direction of the Manager of Financial Services, the Budget Analyst plays a supporting role in: operating and capital budget processing and projections; month-end and year-end responsibilities; multiple computerized recording and reporting system’s maintenance and integrations; cost/benefit and variance analysis; departmental support and training; costing adjustments and reallocations; HST validation and guidance; general ledger monitoring; and financial reporting to both internal and external sources.
  • Three (3) year Post-Secondary Diploma in Accounting or acceptable equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years previous experience in full-cycle accounting and budgeting. Experience in municipal government finances considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of accounting practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability with integrated computerized systems including: budgets, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, cash receipts, project accounting, work orders, fleet management and financial reporting.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office including advanced spreadsheet applications as well as 3rd party report writers.
  • Working knowledge of HST protocols.
