Director of Social Services
 
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Social Services has the responsibility for the administration of Social Service programs, including Ontario Works, Social Housing, and Child Care. The Director of Social Services is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and also acts as the Chief Operating Officer for the Renfrew County Housing Corporation. With an annual gross budget of approximately 40 million dollars, this position provides services to an average monthly caseload of 1200 clients in Ontario Works, approximately 500 children in our Child Care Services division and the management of 1275 Housing units in our Social Housing division.
 
Our preferred candidate will have the right balance of leadership and empathy to provide these critical services to the residents of Renfrew County. Leading a workforce of approximately 80 employees in 4 main locations in Renfrew County (Arnprior, Renfrew, Killaloe and Pembroke), our  ideal candidate will assist the CAO in providing professional guidance to the Social Services Committee, the Board of Directors of the Renfrew County Housing Corporation and County Council in policy development decisions required for the professional delivery of services.
 
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
 
  • Four year university/college degree in Business Administration/Public Administration, and/or BA in Social Sciences/Business Administration with a focus on business applications
 
  • Senior level management experience
 
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
 
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form
 
  • Good organization, problem‐solving, and decision making skills
 
  • Experience with unions/labour relations
