ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – ACCOUNTING
 
The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) is located along the St. Lawrence River in the south-eastern corner of Ontario.  SDG is “Where Ontario Began”, and is rich in heritage, tradition and culture with an abundance of historical sites, great events and beautiful attractions.  With a population of 65,000, SDG is primarily rural yet close to urban centres such as Cornwall, Ottawa, and Brockville.
 
The Administrative Assistant – Accounting, handles all disbursement and receipt transactions associated with all departments in accordance with established policies and procedures. The successful candidate must have sound judgment, a high degree of accuracy and integrity, the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines, and is responsible for administrative support to the Financial Services Department. Main duties include but are not limited to:
 
  • Co-ordinate disbursement and receipt transactions for timely and accurate processing for all County departments.
  • Ensure procedures outlined in the purchasing policy are followed and comply with policy.
  • Ensure mathematical accuracy, proper authorization and posting to appropriate accounts/activities.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation for buildings and equipment and produce financial reports when required.
  • Ensure correct recording of HST and other taxes from accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions and assist with reporting.
  • Create spreadsheets/reports for Financial Services department or other departments as required.
  • Other duties as assigned and required.
 
 
Qualifications: Completed post-secondary education in an accounting field, with five years’ experience in all accounting functions or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong computer, communication and organizational skills.  A self-starter with ability to set priorities and work as part of a team.
 
 
2018 Salary Range:    $47,535 to $54,326
Benefits:   Full benefit package and pension.
