Fleet Stock Room Attendant

Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Superintendent of Fleet Services, the Fleet Stock Room Attendant’s main responsibility is to provide support to the technicians in ensuring parts ordered are correct and in a timely manner by coordinating the daily functions of the parts operations.  In order for this to happen the Fleet Stock Room Attendant is responsible for:
  • process ordering parts, including following up on back orders;
  • communicating and providing appropriate information for processing purchases;
  • researching parts pricing and availability of parts for stock and repair; 
  • maintain the parts physical and electronic inventory;
  • the practical and safe organization of the stock room;
  • issuing parts and supplies over the counter, as well as responding to requests over the phone and via email;
  • pick-up and delivery of parts, vehicles and equipment;
  • process core and incorrect parts returns and parts warranties; and,
  • other related duties as may be assigned.
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
  • a Parts Technician certification or a 3-year post-secondary education in a combination of automotive/truck/heavy equipment and operations/stock room management;
  • a minimum of two (2) year’ experience in operations/ stock management;
  • an understanding of vehicles and equipment systems and methods of repair;
  • the ability to read and interpret technical drawings;
  • strong administrative skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work;
  • well-developed interpersonal, public relations skills with in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, suppliers and the general public;
  • the ability to communicate both verbally and in written form, in a clear, concise, effective and courteous manner
  • a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Fleet Management and purchasing software;
  • the ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision;
  • the physical capability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis;
  • the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • the ability to research, analyse and make recommendations for appropriate actions; and,
  • a valid unrestricted Class “DZ” Ontario Driver’s Licence maintained in good standing (or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).
Salary: $23.18 – $28.98 per hour (Band F)
Hours: Monday to Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
