SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST – ROADS DIVISION

New Tecumseth is a progressive, developing municipality with a population of 30,000 and a combination of rural and urban components.  If you are looking for a challenging, very rewarding career and an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the growth of our municipality, this opportunity may be for you.  We are seeking an experienced and motivated team player to lead our highly skilled non-unionized staff.  This position has become vacant due to an employee resignation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Civil Engineering Technologist certification or eligible for certification by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)
• Requires at least five (5) years experience in a related position with at least two (2) years in a supervisory position
• Computer operating skills required for word processing, spreadsheet and Auto Cad functions
• Capable of interpreting complex documents, construction drawings and technical reports
• Must have a thorough knowledge of related  Municipal and Provincial Regulations and Operating Guidelines plus any other legislation relevant to the duties.
• Excellent communication skills, oral & written
• Must meet the requirements of a Competent Person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Must hold at least a “G” level driver’s licence in good standing, reliable transportation for use on Town business

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages daily operations of the Town’s roads systems, through a Supervisor and Senior Operators.
• Responds to the public regarding complaints and inquiries in an efficient and professional manner.
• Assists with the preparation of division budgets including a five (5) year capital forecast.  Monitors division expenditures to ensure compliance with the approved budget; prepares specifications for RFQ’s, RFP’s and Tenders.
• Provides and/or identifies required resources for the Roads Division, and necessary infrastructure and resources to operate and maintain such systems effectively and safely, including the Patrol Management System.
