SUPERINTENDENT – UTILITIES DIVISION

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires successful completion of two to three years post secondary education at the community college level in a related field of technology.   Possession of M.O.E.  License for Water and Wastewater Treatment and for Water supply and Distribution and Wastewater collection would be an asset 
• Requires at least five (5) years experience in Water and Wastewater field with at least two (2) years in a supervisory position 
• Computer operating skills required for word processing, spreadsheet and Auto Cad functions
• Capable of interpreting complex documents, construction drawings and technical reports
• Must have a thorough knowledge of M.O.E. Regulations and Operating Guidelines plus any other legislation relevant to the duties.
• Must meet the requirements of a Competent Person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Must have a “G” level driver’s licence in good standing

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages daily operations of the Town’s drinking water and wastewater systems, including the Quality Management System and the systems’ maintenance program, through Supervisors and Senior Operators.
• Responds to the public regarding complaints and inquiries in an efficient and professional manner.
• Assists with the preparation of all division budgets including a five (5) year capital forecast.  Monitors division expenditures to ensure compliance with the approved budget; prepares specifications for RFQ’s, RFP’s and Tenders.
• Provides and/or identifies required resources for the water/wastewater systems, Quality Management System and necessary infrastructure and resources to operate and maintain such systems effectively and safely.
