TREASURER

The Municipality of Callander, a small rural/urban community on the beautiful south-eastern shore of Lake Nipissing approximately 10 km south of North Bay, offers spectacular scenery as well as four seasons of activities servicing a mix of year-round and seasonal residents. The Municipality is seeking a skilled senior manager to provide strategic financial and corporate leadership along with general management of the Treasury Department to support future growth and development. Reporting to the CAO/Clerk, the Treasurer will direct, plan and provide the full range of treasury services to the municipality, provide expert advice to Council and department managers, mentor and guide staff, be responsible for the annual budgeting process, coordinate all audit requirements, develop multi-year capital and operating forecasts, manage the taxation process and provide guidance to corporate projects.

You will have:

• A related post secondary education or university degree with an accounting designation (CGA, C.M.A., C.A.) or a related mix of experience and education.
• Seven years of successful working experience in finance with a minimum of three years in a management role, ideally in the public sector.
• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative responses to complex issues.
• Thorough knowledge of financial, purchasing, accounting and auditing principles and practices, applicable legislation/regulatory standards, investment and debt management, provincial grant processes, property taxation, budget formulation, local government functions and responsibilities, health and safety, and employee relations principles and practices.
• Strong customer service orientation, well developed organizational and communication skills.
