Senior Engineering Technologist
The Town of BWG is looking for an energetic, highly motivated and organized professional to provide day to day support to the operations of the Transportation Division.
Reporting to the Manager of Transportation, the Senior Engineering Technologist will provide day to day support to the operations of the Transportation Division. This position will perform contract administration duties and plans review for Town construction projects and development proposals; collect and analyze information regarding infrastructure changes; carry out the preparation, review and administration of tender specifications, contracts and documents; advise of possible conflicts with specifications, utilities, contractors and contracts; and collect and maintain a municipal infrastructure inventory, review, comment and issue Road occupancy permits. This position will also prepare reports for the Manager and assist in the preparation of tender documents, requests for proposals and other legal engineering documents. The Senior Engineering Technologist will also assist the service area in addressing resident/community group issues.
The successful candidate will have post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and possess (or be eligible for) a professional designation; along with a minimum of five to seven years of experience, preferably in municipal transportation. The successful candidate will have previous experience in civil surveying; advanced understanding in the principles and application of civil engineering theories, methods and practices; advanced knowledge of construction practices and methods, including the ability to interpret engineering drawings and documents; and project management experience with municipal construction projects. Additionally, you have knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards Specifications; Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings; ASTM, AWWA, CSA, CCDC; Ministry of Transportation Design Manuals/Construction Manual; Ontario Traffic Manual; Occupational Health and Safety Act; Construction/Mechanics Lien Act. The candidate will be able to work alone or as part of a team; customer service focused, possesses strong interpersonal, project/time management, analytical, communication, presentation, organizational, administrative, public/media relations and problem-solving skills. A valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business is required for this position.
The position offers a salary range of $71,144 to $88,930 (based on a 40 hour work week) plus a competitive benefit package.
