Minimum Qualifications:
  • Secondary school education (Grade 12) or equivalent
  • Five (5) Years’ experience in the repair of equipment in a corporate fleet environment
  • Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable legislation including but not limited to OHSA, CVOR, Highway Traffic Act, MTO Vehicle regulations, and applicable regulations, standards and codes
  • Good technical and mechanical skills with sound knowledge of all aspects of fleet operation, repairs of heavy equipment, hydraulic systems and safe work practices
  • Strong team leader with demonstrated communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, scheduling and records management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and work order systems
 
Assets:
  • Current Ontario Government Certificate of Qualifications – Truck and Coach Technician 310T and Automotive Service Technician 310S or college diploma in a relevant field
  • Valid Class D license with Z endorsement supported by acceptable abstract
  • Municipal experience would be considered an asset
 
Duties:
  • Help expand the existing Operations Fleet Service into a Corporate Fleet Service
  • Prepare and control the Corporate Fleet Operating and Capital Budgets including 5 year forecast
  • Training, development, supervision, and review of employee performance, addressing staff-related matters regularly
  • Procurement of new and used equipment to meet the needs of the various departments and preparation of reports associated with the approval process for the expenditure
  • Maintain a vehicle and equipment data base and provide regular updates for insurance and tangible capital asset purposes
  • Coordinate fleet schedules with County departments to optimize vehicle usage and administer the Fleet Rental Recovery program
  • Monitor fuel usage, invoicing and insure compliance with TSSA Regulation 217/01 and Liquid Fuels Handling Code 2007
  • Conduct Ensure that all Health and Safety Regulations, Corporate policies, procedures and quality standards are adhered
  • Schedule routine service and repair for County owned vehicles and equipment in preparation for seasonal changes or on an as-needed basis during response to a weather event
  • Obtains cost and time estimates for repair and maintenance and verify warranty and service contract information when necessary
  • Inventory of parts and supplies, purchase of non-inventory parts and the acquisition of contracted services
  • Review and approval of invoices for equipment repairs by external vendors
  • Advise staff on proper care of equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications
  • Evaluate accident damage, coordinate repairs and assist in accident investigations
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Annual Salary Range: $81,162 - $94,952 (Job Grade 7 - under review) 40 hours per week
