Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure Planning in the Infrastructure Planning Division of the Engineering Services Department, in the Public Works Commission, the Infrastructure Planning Technologist will assist in developing and implementing asset management initiatives and capital planning strategies in alignment with the City's long term goals and vision. Duties include, but are not limited to: managing projects, studies and consultant services for the completion of municipal condition assessments specific to Public Works assets (roads, bridges, water, sewer, storm etc.), conducting lifecycle analysis and forecasts for infrastructure replacement needs, assisting with the development of capital and operating budgets, developing budgetary level cost estimates and collecting project background to assist with project prioritization, managing studies to determine the performance and capacity of municipal linear and vertical infrastructure, and developing terms of references (TOR) or request for proposals (RFP).
  • Successful completion of a three (3) year College Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field and preferably holds a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation in good standing;
  • A minimum of four (4) years of previous work experience with developing TORs/RFPs, municipal condition assessments and establishing capital requirements;
  • Knowledge of condition assessment techniques for Public Works assets;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups and foster collaborative partnerships;
  • Knowledge of asset management concepts, principles and best practices;
  • Proven proficiency in utilizing computer equipment and related software applications;
  • Knowledge of and relevant working experience with Geographic Information Systems and general database application software;
  • A valid G Ontario driver's license in good standing is required to occasionally visit job sites;
  • Computer literacy utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access);
  • Excellent project management, time management, organizational, analytical, problem solving skills as well as oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and be a strong team player.
WAGE RANGE: $33.52 to $37.24 per hour (based on 35 hours a week)
