The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) has an international reputation for excellence in managing the natural resources of the largest inland river system in southern Ontario. General Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Administrative Assistant provides efficient and effective project and administrative support, file management, and data entry for all operational programs and services including conservation areas, central services, forestry operations and arboriculture.
 
 
Specific Accountabilities:
  1. Provide support to the Manager of Conservation Areas with various day-to-day operations such as the membership card program, the automatic entry gate database, the camping reservation system, the hunting program and other programs or services, as required.
  2. Assist the Supervisor of Central Services with maintenance and capital construction related activities such as procurement, financial tracking, record keeping, and filing.
  3. Conduct research, compile information and prepare summary reports in support of various projects.
  4. Maintain the signage inventory and process orders for new signage, as required.
  5. Provide day-to-day administration of the fleet management system.
  6. Provide excellent customer service by responding to public inquiries in a helpful and timely manner.
  7. Modify existing website content related to conservation area programs, the hunting program, and construction projects.
  8. Perform general administrative services including filing, record keeping, updating manuals and inventories, data entry and other duties as assigned including switchboard/reception coverage.
 
 
Technical Accountabilities/Requirements:
  1. College diploma preferably in an area related to administration, outdoor recreation or other related program.
  2. A minimum of 3 years related work experience. Experience working in a recreation and/or customer service environment would be beneficial.
  3. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to organize, summarize and assist with the interpretation and analysis of data and information to support projects in the Operations Division.
  5. Strong computer skills including word-processing, spreadsheet, database, presentations, mail merging and email skills and proficiency using Adobe Acrobat Writer. Experience creating AODA-compliant documents would be beneficial.
  6. Demonstrated experience in file and document management.
  7. Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel to various locations within the Grand River watershed.

Approximate Start Date: September 2019
 
Salary range for this position is $44,771.69 to $54,471.61
Hours of work: 35 hours per week
