Reporting to the Manager, Financial Information Management Services, Applications,
The incumbent will:
  • Lead and perform application development adhering to best practices, quality assurance, methodologies and policies
  • Provide a lead technical role on systems and applications, including overseeing technical staff and ensuring projects are implemented within strict timelines and budget
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, management and Corporate Services-Information Technology (CS-IT) team to resolve issues and ensure solutions are viable and consistent
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations on software applications or tools to management
  • Provide a lead technical role in upgrades and support of existing enterprise systems
  • Install, test, maintain and upgrade existing systems as required
  • Configure software, infrastructure and end-user security
  • Establish file transfer protocol for interfaces between vendor hosted systems/on-premise/cloud hosted systems
  • Design new computer systems and frameworks using systems development lifecycle
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to existing applications, with input from the business areas, as needed
  • Communicate and mitigate risks to any changes to systems
  • Provide technical opinion on proposed work requests and provide recommendations of alternative technical or functional solutions
  • Develop technical standards, create system guidelines and operational procedures and manuals
  • Assess performance and quality of system, providing input and suggestions into efficiencies and improvement areas
  • Document and prioritize system requirements with stakeholders for review and approval
  • Provide technical insight into proposed change requests, analyze impact and provide recommendations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology and industry trends
The successful candidate will possess:
  • A four year degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Technical development experience with enterprise applications such as SAP or Oracle CC&B
  • Experience and knowledge in Unix scripting, JavaScripting, SQL, WebLogic
  • Experience in end user security using LDAP or Active Directory
  • Experience in File Transfer Protocol such as SFTP, ftps
  • Report development experience such as BI Publisher is an asset
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows, RedHat Linux) and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Strong knowledge of system development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Oracle Customer Care and Billing an asset
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials an asset
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong project and technical leadership and organizational skills
  • A valid driver's licence and the use of a vehicle
