Deputy Clerk Treasurer
            The Township of Fauquier-Strickland has an opening for the position of Deputy Clerk Treasurer.
            The Township of Fauquier-Strickland is a small progressive municipality located halfway between Smooth Rock Falls and Kapuskasing and encompasses 3 small communities (Fauquier, Grégoire Mills and Strickland) and over 5 geographic townships.
            Reporting to the CAO Clerk Treasurer, the Deputy Clerk Treasurer will assist in all aspects of municipal administration.  The successful candidate will become an integral part of the municipal team in supporting the development and implementation of the strategic objectives and policies in the interest of a sustainable municipality and depending on qualifications and experience, may be assigned specific functions and responsibilities.
            Some of the responsibilities may include assistance with financial reporting, analysis and posting which may include tax and utility billings, collection, payroll, preparation of year-end files, payables and receivables, preparation and research of by-laws and policies, assist with municipal elections every four years and other duties as assigned.
            Candidates shall demonstrate computer, public relations and organizational skills as well as exceptional oral and written communications abilities in both official languages.  Preference will be given to candidates with a financial, accounting or business administration background or a combination thereof.
The ideal candidate will have:
-           A minimum 3 years’ experience in municipal administration and an understanding of local governments.
-           Experience with the iCity financial program.
-           A working knowledge of the Municipal Act, Municipal Elections Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
-           A Municipal Administration Program certificate, knowledge of GIS systems, Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, parliamentary procedure and knowledge of the current legislation affecting municipal water systems, will be considered an asset.
-           Commit to personal and professional development.
            This position is classified as permanent full-time (35 hours per week) with occasional evening meetings.  Salary will be negotiated in accordance with qualifications and experience.  The municipality offers an excellent benefit package.
