Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller of Plant and Planning Services, the Capital Projects Manager provides strategic direction and leadership for the planning, implementation, management and budget of the multi-location capital construction, school renewal and energy management programs.
 
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Architecture or Engineering and membership in the appropriate professional organization;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a senior management role with a focus on facility management;
  • Proven leadership skills with relevant experience with facility issues and energy management specifically in the Public Sector;
  • Proven ability to provide leadership to multi-disciplinary groups such as school communities, school administrators, senior staff, consultants, contractors and others as required in project/program delivery;
  • Proven ability to develop and direct programs and budgets;
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills to provide clear direction to stakeholder groups, consultant and contractors for the implementation of the project/program delivery;
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Thorough knowledge of consultant and construction contracts, public sector tendering procedures and policies, including knowledge of relevant government codes and regulations;
  • Technical knowledge of facility design, construction and facility replacement and renewal issues;
  • Knowledge of energy management programs and strategies for reduction of energy use along with Building Automation System (BAS) training and programming skills;
  • Knowledge and ability to read blueprints and specifications;
  • Proficient drafting skills and ability to use AutoCAD and manipulate CAD drawings;
  • Computer literate, knowledge and experience in the use of word processing and spreadsheet programs in keeping with latest programs supplied by Board;
  • Knowledge of in-house computer programs would be considered an asset; and
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation such as the Education Act and Regulations under the Act; Ministry Memoranda and Technical Documents; The Planning Act; The Municipal Act; Environmental Legislation; Public Health Legislation; Construction Legislation; Jurisprudence respecting Civil Litigation; The O.H.S. Act; The Ontario Building Code and Fire Code; Ontarians with Disabilities Act; ALCDSB Policy Manual, etc.
 
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a Criminal Background Check (CBC) with vulnerable sector screening current within six months of date of hire.

Salary/Range:
$88,341 – $108,530 per annum
