This is a contract full-time position working 35 hours per week for up to twelve (12) months of employment.

Purpose:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Payroll Operations, this role will provide daily functional support and administration of integrated employee time and attendance and payroll and benefits systems (SAP HCM) as well as participate and provide meaningful collaboration on several enhancement projects.
 
Preferred Background:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of payroll procedures, processes and legislation with three or more years related work experience in a high volume, fast-paced payroll department, preferably with a medium to large public sector organization.
 
The successful candidate will be an advanced user in Excel and functions, who can demonstrate relevant experience to compare, analyze and manage complex data within spreadsheets (e.g. lookups and pivot tables). The individual will possess demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem solving skills, including excellent attention to detail and the able to troubleshoot payroll issues effectively and provide clear recommendations.
 
Effective customer service and collaborative skills are required, including the ability to work successfully in a team environment and independently to complete tasks by prescribed deadlines. The individual should have working knowledge of SAP Payroll schemas or comparable ERP Payroll programs and experience providing support for a production SAP environment including testing of support packages or other SAP upgrade/implementation testing. The successful candidate will have experience building custom reports, developing business requirements documentation and must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
 
Preference will be given to candidates with a post-secondary Diploma in Business Administration and completion of PCP designation. Experience with SAP HR/Payroll testing and project management is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
 
 
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, by the first day of employment.
 
 
Duties:
  • Participates in SAP HR/Payroll, time and attendance, workforce management, annual maintenance and ad hoc payroll projects.
  • Develops business requirements, functional and technical design documentation/specifications, for development of SAP reports/upload programs, etc. and collaborates with IT on implementation.
  • Prepares system testing plans and completes unit, parallel and integration testing as required.
  • Provides business analytical and payroll support including training to the Payroll team.
  • Provides support for payroll reporting and time and attendance integration into SAP.
  • Provides payroll reports and analysis of data to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assists with tier II COMPASS (corporate time sheet) support to employees and approvers.
  • Identifies and recommends changes for approval with respect to systems and processes to increase the efficiency of the Payroll operations.
  • Collaborates with HR to interpret HR policies and union contracts, and works with IT to configure, test & implement in SAP to adhere to contract specifications.
  • Provides back up for generating biweekly pay including master data input, manual calculations, data transfers & reconciliation of pay.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
