The Township of Huron-Kinloss is seeking a qualified person for the
position of
Lead Hand in the Public Works Department
The Township of Huron-Kinloss, population of 7,069, is situated along the picturesque shore of Lake Huron at the southern end of Bruce County. The Township boasts the friendly communities of Lucknow, Ripley and Point Clark that are full of spirit and have rich histories dating back more than 150 years.
This position is 40 hours per week and the successful applicant will supervise the operations of all Public Works services.
Applicant must possess the following:
  • Valid AZ and/or DZ licence
  • Municipal Pit & Quarry Designation or obtain in 6 months
  • Road School Accreditation or equivalency
  • Good supervisory skills
  • Results oriented
  • Able to operate and maintain a variety of equipment to construct roads and maintain the services provided by the Public Works Department
  • Working Knowledge regarding road and bridge construction and maintenance, property maintenance and record keeping
  • Good working knowledge of computers and other digital devices, and operational understanding of Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to analyze, assess and interpret data and situations, compile results, and do scheduling
  • Ability to read technical reports, i.e. blueprints, contracts, tenders, excavating, material referred to a contractor
  • Good communication and organization skills
