Payroll Administrator (Temporary for 18 months)

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain/update all employee payroll data in the PeopleSoft system.
  • Audit and process remote location time entry.
  • Process payroll in PeopleSoft for weekly/biweekly employees.
  • Process interfaces to/from PeopleSoft.
  • Maintain, balance, electronically remit for OMERS, garnishments, etc.
  • Calculate and process retro pay, annual vacation payouts and special payments.
  • Assist with year-end processing (T4s, OMERS, etc.)
  • Prepare year-end accruals.
  • Calculate and prepare monthly billings.
  • Provide system support for PeopleSoft users.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Requirements:
  • Must be reliable with good attitude and employment record.
  • Must have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
  • Must have a Grade 12 diploma with a minimum of 1 year post secondary education in a payroll related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a full cycle payroll administration capacity and have a sound understanding of payroll processes and payroll legislation.
  • Must have a working knowledge of union contracts, labour standards, Canada Revenue taxation, etc.
  • Must possess excellent mathematical skills and be able to perform calculations with accuracy.
  • Must possess well-developed computer skills, specifically in the use of Excel.
  • Must be able to provide information, respond to inquiries and deal with employees in a courteous, confidential and professional manner.
  • Must have proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure and be willing to work overtime as required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in PeopleSoft
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation

"The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all Directors, Deputy Chief
Administrative Officer, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be
employed by the City in any capacity.
The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such
employment would be:
1. within the same Department in the case of permanent full-time, temporary full-time and part-
time classifications.
2. Within the same Division in the case of students."
