The Municipality of Meaford is located in the County of Grey on the western shore of beautiful Georgian Bay in Central Ontario. With a rural and urban mix population of approximately 11,000, the Municipality offers abundant recreational and lifestyle opportunities.
 
The Municipality of Meaford is looking for 2 Mechanics/Heavy Mechanics to be responsible for maintaining our Ministry approved licensing station to inspect, certify and repair the Municipal Fleet of gas and diesel powered vehicles and equipment. The Mechanic/Heavy Mechanic is responsible for scheduling maintenance activities for equipment, maintaining mobile units (trucks, heavy and small equipment) and stationary equipment in a safe and effective manner. The role will also assist with other duties utilizing equipment for maintenance and winter operations as required.
 
The successful applicants will have valid certificates of qualifications in Automotive Service Technician (310S), Truck & Coach Technician (310T), Heavy Equipment certification, a valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s Licence and “Z” endorsement in good standing with a minimum of 3 years’ licenced experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment. The individuals will also have the proven ability to operate single or tandem trucks with attachments such as salt and sand spreader, snow plow, street sweeper, tractor with attachments, excavator, grader, wheel loader, rubber tired backhoe, steam jenny, weed eaters, grinder, portable compactors, portable water pumps, portable hand sprayers, wood chipper and small hand equipment (tools).
