Full Time Permanent
40 Hours Per Week

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, Parks & Properties, this position directs and co-ordinates the day to day work activities of the Building Maintenance Technician, Senior and Facility Operators, Custodians and contracted forces to ensure the effective, efficient and safe operation and maintenance of all Buildings, Properties, Recreation Facilities, Administration and Operations Buildings, Fire Stations, Libraries, leased and rental properties. Responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation and Town policies and protection of public health and safety, associated customer service functions, including responding to enquiries from the general public, Town staff and user groups.
  • Requires a post-secondary degree or diploma in Facility, Buildings, Property and/or Arena Management or related discipline.
  • Eligible for Technical Standards and Safety Authority - Refrigeration “B” license, or equivalent.
  • NSPF Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) designation, or equivalent that is suitable to the Town.
  • BOMA, IFMA, Building Environmental Systems (BES) designation considered an asset. 
  • Solid thorough working knowledge of Building Management and Control Systems (BMCS) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • 5 - 7 years progressive experience in facility and arena management including at least 1 year of staff supervisory experience in a municipal, fast paced team-oriented environment or equivalent education and experience that is acceptable to the Town.
  • Minimum of 1 year project management experience.
  • A demonstrated aptitude and thorough working knowledge for systems and components including refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, energy management, building sciences, facilities and maintenance management, building science, equipment and construction techniques, etc.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Ontario legislation/regulations affecting the portfolio including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Building and Fire Codes, Occupiers Liability Act, and other applicable building and property safety-related legislation/regulations/guidelines.
  • Ability to think and act strategically in a political and community service environment, to build strong and enthusiastic staff teams and external alliances / partnerships, to align departmental programs / services with corporate goals and objectives, and to champion the mission and values of the Town.
  • Must meet the requirements of a Competent Person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Class G Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.

Salary Range: $ 83,158.40 – 103,958.40
