The Role…..
Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Performance, you will lead and manage a variety of strategic and sensitive projects, with short to long-term planning and implementation horizons. These will have particular emphasis in the areas of facilitating operational and business process improvements and change related projects. Projects focus areas include operational practices, business process efficiencies, project management improvement initiatives, strategic planning, technology procurements and customer service improvements. This role interfaces regularly with the leadership team; ease working with senior leaders is essential.
Our vision for you:
  • Provide expertise, advice and guidance to the Water and Wastewater Divisions programs and services by implementing improvement projects and developing new programs.
  • Develop and deliver departmental reports related to Water and Wastewater best practices.
  • Conduct research on Water and Wastewater industry best practices and analyze the data to inform recommendations for improving divisional programs.
  • Monitors and provides recommendations on water and wastewater industry trends, identifies risks and proactively identifies improvement opportunities
  • Manages and coordinates projects including preparation of Expression of Interest, Request for Proposals, tenders; evaluation of submissions, consultant progress and deliverable submissions; and development of project plans, work schedules and determination of priorities
  • Identifies and coordinates all operational elements (including budgets and resources)
  • Ensures all phases of the program delivery are performed within standards, timeframes and budget requirements
  • Accountable for all deliverables produced by the project team members, including external resources and vendors
  • Facilitates meetings and prepares and delivers presentations and reports to director, manager, project teams and to divisional meetings as required
  • Conducts research and analysis to develop and provide recommendations on new strategies, identify emerging issues, trends within the wastewater industry to keep Peel as an industry leader and ensure ongoing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Maintains a broad network of contacts to ensure effective knowledge base on all wastewater and public works issues including emerging legislation, technology changes
  • Evaluate and review current policies, practices and programs
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the wastewater program
  • Masters techniques for effective integration of programs across the division, department or Corporation as appropriate
  • Participate in conferences and other networking opportunities as appropriate


Ideal skillset includes:

  • University degree in environmental studies, business administration or organizational development
  • 5 years of related working experience in public works or a municipal setting
  • Project Management Professional Certification is considered an asset
  • Experience related to business process improvement or Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt certification would be an asset
  • Experienced with adult education is considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of water and wastewater systems would be preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to utilize project management software
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate and influence a variety of stakeholders, including senior leaders
  • Facilitation experience with a skillset to lead engaging & polished presentations
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills


Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton.
Hours of Work: Regular Full-Time, working 35 hours a week
