IT Project Director
Toronto, ON
You’re a strategically minded and detail-oriented project manager, experienced in delivering large-scale IT projects that meet objectives. You’re conversant with current and emerging information management concepts and technologies, and ready to take an important step in your successful career. With the City of Toronto, you can. Take this opportunity to join our forward-looking IT leadership team as a Project Director, I&T, in one of these temporary (2-year), full-time positions.
Reporting to the Architecture & Portfolio Delivery Section, you will lead, provide direction on, and ensure the delivery of various programs, projects and strategic initiatives aligned with divisional and corporate strategic directions. You’ll be part of the team that oversees the establishment of a project governance framework for large-scale enterprise or multi-division transformational IT business systems, and ensures sound business case development, financial planning, including costs and benefits analysis, risk management, and resource and budget estimates. This role also entails reporting to corporate sponsors, ensuring that return on investment (ROI) objectives and business value are materialized through programs and projects with a focus on the organization’s future directions and objectives.
Both a persuasive communicator and a confident relationship builder, you’re capable of negotiating with executives and senior management, clients and various stakeholders, often with divergent interests, to meet competing goals, objectives and priorities. We will look to you, as a cost-aware, results-focused leader, to ensure quality assurance in IT services and systems sustainment, including production and change control, infrastructure and business continuity capacity, and to identify, facilitate and develop cross-departmental and divisional initiatives that offer synergies and economies of scale.
A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, and a PMP or PgMP certification have served as a solid foundation for your extensive project management and program management experience in all stages of complex information management programs and projects, with an emphasis on organizational strategic direction and financial, procurement and risk management.
Your significant track record of success will attest to your ability to use project management methodology and tools for reporting and managing enterprise-level initiatives, utilize, allocate and manage budget and staffing resources across projects, conduct contract negotiations and manage contracts from inception to closure, including RFP and Sole Source. Adept at maintaining effective consulting relationships, you also bring extensive experience in managing business and technical teams and resources (operational and project managers, staff, contractors and vendors) – directly and indirectly – to develop business and technical solutions and achieve business objectives.
If you have also worked in a shared project management environment, using collaborative project management tools such as Microsoft Enterprise Project Management, even better, as it’s considered a definite asset.
Salary Range: $145,672.80 - $171,152.80 per year
